Paul Johnson February 20 2019 Portrait of a London Busker: EP 1 James Cara Busking in London is probably the purest form of practicing music. Buskers deserve more than a few coins in a bucket, that is why we decided to offer them the ray of light that the street often blocks with the series that we kick off today with James Cara's portrait. I have always had an interest in busking in general. For me, it’s fascinating to hear and see people with incredible talents performing on the streets of London. But one of the things that has always had me intrigued and made me wander is what the story behind the person performing may be. I have had the idea of documenting the lives of buskers for a while and it was on an opportunity whilst shooting a fashion film on London’s Brick Lane where I met James Cara. He was performing an incredible electronic track that completely captivated me as soon as I heard it. I decided to ask him if it was okay to get a shot with the model dancing to some of his music, James was more than willing and after shooting we had a small chat and exchanged details. After a couple of meetings, I got to know James more and found out more about him as a person. James was more than happy to tell his story on this short documentary and I feel he was the best person to kick off this series of Busker diaries. His story like many other buskers stories deserves to be told.
